Motivation

Maintaining motivation is crucial for achieving personal and professional goals.

Often, the focus on motivating others can lead to neglecting our own motivation.

It is essential to make motivation a regular practice, especially during challenging times.

Even the most determined individuals can face moments of low energy and enthusiasm.

Optimism plays an essential role in sustaining motivation. Negative thoughts can hinder progress and lead to difficult emotions.

Supporting positive thoughts is within our control and can lead to positive actions, fostering the motivation needed to overcome obstacles. Surrounding oneself with like-minded individuals is another effective strategy for staying motivated (4Ivy, FSB are just some networking groups that I attend, there are others).

Negative influences can hinder progress, while a supportive network can provide encouragement and accountability. Having an accountability buddy can serve as a powerful motivator, ensuring a constant source of cheering and support.

Aligning one's career with passion is a powerful motivator. Choosing a profession that brings joy and fulfilment makes it easier to find the motivation necessary for success. While passions may evolve, it's crucial to spin with them to maintain enthusiasm and motivation. Following one's passion ensures a sustained drive to achieve goals.

Clearly defining goals and visualising the desired results are essential for staying motivated. Creating a detailed action plan helps maintain focus, preventing frustration and stagnation. Visualisation activates the brain to recognise resources and connections that can assist in achieving the goal. A clear vision, coupled with genuine commitment, enhances the likelihood of success (might be worth re-visiting or writing that business or personal plan again).

“The most important thing you’ll ever wear is your attitude.” —Jeff Moore

Breaking down goals into manageable tasks and rewarding oneself upon completion is an effective strategy for sustaining motivation. Massive goals can be overwhelming, leading to loss of focus.

Breaking them into smaller, achievable tasks helps maintain momentum. Rewards (coffee, wine and cake), even simple ones, serve as incentives to push harder, reinforcing motivation and ensuring continued progress.
